The quad came bouncing and landed on my back. When it rolled, I flew off and landed on my belly. I was there a few hours and rolled it on a banked turn at the top of the bowl right before you get to the one-ways. I had it for about 2 weeks and took it to Sand Lake. HOLY CHIT!!!!! I was surprised by the power. I took it to the field across the street from his house. We drove over to a friend of mines house and unloaded it. Anyway, I took it by the house and showed her. BTW, I didnt bother to ask my ol lady if I could buy it. Load it up in my truck." It was just about dark by the time I drove away from the shop. "Can I help you?" Without hestitation I pulled 60 Ben Franklins outta my front pocket and said "I want this Quad. I was sitting on it when the salesman walked up and asked. I knew nothing about quads accept I thought it really looked coool and I had the money in my pocket to buy it. There was a left over '05 sitting by the front door. For some strange reason thats still to this day beyond me, I stopped in Hillsboro MotoSports on the way home from work. I had planned on meeting the guy again after work. Took it for a test drive one morning before work. Back in Oct of '06 I found a Mustang on craigslist. I guess I was a late bloomer when it comes to quads. Would sure appreciate anyone's help who might know what the heck is going on! I was able to get it to turn over about 5 times with electric start with compression tester installed which read 145 lbs. I will include the photo.Īnyway.I'm at a total loss at this point. Could t get a pic of the entire chamber because of the angled engine but there are marks on the center piston and a couple of grooves once side of the piston top. I have a small camera that I dropped into the cylinder. The cam lobes look good from what I can see. 0006".Ĭhecked the compression relief spring on the end of the cam and the spring was strong and keeps the metal piece against the dowel like it should. The cylinder was dry however.Ĭhecked the valve lash and it was right on at. I'm thinking maybe a hydro-locked situation so I pull the plug and the motor rolls over fine with both pull start and electric start. I also installed a new starter which won't roll it over either.

I get it home and put a new recoil on it and the pull is incredibly hard.so much so that I think I'm going to break the new recoil assembly. Guy said previous owner had motor rebuilt (3 years ago or so.) It reportedly ran great but recently the electric start began failing and he put a new recoil on it which he broke immediately. So what do the ATC Masters have to say? Pics to follow. Any weird things to look for? Checked cam timing its good. Have another carb on the way but not veryĬonfident it will fix it. Loosened it up and got 110 PSI Now starts easier but still super rich.īlack smoke when you rev it up if it revs up cant find any other way to lean it out.

I checked the valves and the exhaust valve was too tight. I ended up checking compression and only had about 75psi Not flooding, float level goodĪnd nothing restricting air flow, air box is not there just open carb.

Turned in the a/f screw and bottomed it out still rich. Metering rod as low as the adjustment goes. Ordered a (yes you guessed it a Chinese carb as only available) and still super rich, same no change. Black smoke fouling out plug immediately. Years of water etc.Īfter pulling it forever got it to fire but would barely idle and super rich off idle. (always the case) I pulled off the carb and cleaned it out the best I could, lots of corrosion. The motor wasn't locked up and it had spark. They seem to collect them out this way so I figured I could always get my money back I picked up an 81 ATC 110 for almost nothing. Another headache but different manufacturer.
